Skellig by David Almond
A Diary Entry by Juan L. and Santiago P.

Dear Diary,

This was a very weird month, not like the last ones. It had lots of upside-downs. Luckily everything ended perfectly.
When we moved to Falconer Road I wanted to kill myself. Everything was broken and couldn´t be fixed because of the baby. She had lots of problems. She spent all day in the hospital because of her breathing problems. Her lungs didn´t work at a 100% so we lived in a dump. The house had an interesting garage, full of trash, but because of something it attracted me. I wanted to investigate but there was a problem, my mom. She didn´t let me in, she thought it was dangerous. Something could live in there, and it did. When she was distracted or out of the house I entered there and I saw an old man sitting there. I couldn´t believe it. A human being living there for I don´t know how long.
What could I do? Scared or nervous I asked him if he wanted help or something but he kicked me out. I wanted to help him, I gave him food or aspirin but he was afraid. He thought I would go to the police. I was astonished, lost, I didn´t have a clue of what to do so I told my new friend Mina. She was smarter than me. She proposed to move him to another place, better and safer. When we were moving him we noticed something very weird in his shoulder blades so we took out his jacket and we saw he had wings! What was he? A man, a bird or an angel? We couldn´t believe it!
Now Mina and I want to keep visiting him. I wish mom and dad never find out about him. Maybe he can get a job without revealing his secret and we will become a family living in different houses, because I feel he is more confident every day. I wish we can stay together the three of us all our lives. We love him!
Oh! My mom’s calling. I have to go to “sleep”. I´ll visit Skellig haha. Bye, I’ll tell you the rest tomorrow.
                                              XOXO

                                                         Michael
