Millions

Millions
A diary entry by Sofia Celaa

December 24th,
Today has been a long day. We went to the bank to change the money. We divided ourselves into groups, Dad and Anthony and Dorothy and I. Dad and Anthony went to the banks on the south side of Deansgate and Dorothy and I went to the ones on the north side. In all the banks, Dorothy and I went to put a little bit of pressure on the woman on the counter, I pretended that I had to pee. It worked in all the banks we went to except for Co-Op because they had a customer toilet. We also went to the bank inside Kendal´s, where Mum used to work. I used to love going there to fetch her.

At night, I lay in my bed waiting for my phone to ring. Actually, I was waiting for it to vibrate because I set it to vibrate so I wouldn´t wake up the others. Suddenly, my phone shook. It was Glass Eye, in the video screen, he whispered, “Ten minutes”. I went down to get the money. When I went through the front door, I heard some voices; I thought it was Glass Eye. I was scared, but I opened the door anyway. It was a man with three little girls. They were asking for money. I gave them the money, but when they left I realized there were hundreds of people outside asking for money. It was insane. I still cannot believe the amount of people standing outside the door. They even woke Dad up. It was crazy and scary at the same time.
